On one of our last trips to Universal Orlando, we were lucky enough to be able to have our own experience with a Raptor. It was a lot of fun and the way everything was set up was interesting. This was a little while ago so I’m sure they have worked out a better way to have this experience.

Back in October we finally got the opportunity to visit London and Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Orlando. The experience we had was even better than we could have imagined. We got to get in the areas an hour earlier than the rest of the public because we stayed on Universal property. This allowed us to see a lot of things without having to fight through crowds.
The London facade was stunning. Now we’ve never been to London, England but we can only imagine that it looks identical. The setup was like being in a London park but with bright shining sun! It was great to have an opportunity to take pictures with the shrunken head that resides in the big purple bus. Interacting with the head was even better. He chatted with us about where we were from and it was really humorous.
After visiting London we made our way into Diagon Alley. It was amazing. There was so many details to everything it was almost overwhelming. We took our time trying to see everything but we still managed to miss things. On our first visit we didn’t visit Knockturn Alley well because we didn’t even see it! The food, the shops and even the dragon were just fantastic. It was truly like being in Harry Potter’s world.
One of our favorite parts was getting to see the dragon actually breathe fire!
On our second day at the park we finally found Knockturn Alley and it was not disappointing! The whole area was really dark so it was harder to take pictures but we tried our best. The details and theming was completely different than Diagon Alley but we still loved every second of it.
We also got to visit Gringotts Bank, Universal Studios Orlando’s new ride. It was awesome but we will save all of that for a later post! Overall the newly opened Diagon Alley was more than what we thought it would be. If you are a Harry Potter fan then you must make a visit. You will not be disappointed.
Today’s post is all about rumors and who doesn’t enjoy a good rumor! Throughout the past few months we’ve tried to stay as up to date with Universal Studios Orlando Resort’s changes as much as possible. We are really working hard to ensure that we know as much as possible, get to see everything that we really want to see and make this our most enjoyable vacation to date. We figure, do the work now so we won’t have to when we are there.
Universal recently announced that with the release of the newest installment of the Purge movie they will in fact be putting on a scarezone themed around The Purge in this year’s Halloween Horror Nights celebrations. It is rumored that scarezone actors will be wielding chainsaws and the memorable masks from the movies. Think you could handle that?
More rumors flying around the mill are that Universal will be making some more changes to City Walk. It is already known that Margaritaville’s refurbishment has been completed. They expanded their outdoor seating and provided heaters in the event the weather turns cooler. This is leading people to believe that some of the other restaurants that were unaffected by all the newest restaurant additions will also be refurbished. Following in the footsteps of the changes to City Walk are also rumors that NBA City and the Nascar Cafe will be changed to new restaurants. At this point in time, it is believed that the restaurants will not be torn down and rebuilt but fully remodeled into completely new restaurants.
These are some of the latest rumors we’ve heard may possibly be coming to Universal Studios Orlando. Let us know what you think about the rumors!
One thing we love to do on vacation (or any other time) is eat. We love all things food, well the Mr. does, the Mrs. is really picky. Universal Studios is great for us because we can always find something that we both like to eat. It can be quick service or a full sit down meal. We’ve previously never stayed on Universal property but we anticipate the new Cabana Bay Beach Resort to be just as easy to find food options as the rest of the resort is.
Here are some restaurant options that were there on our last trip in Universal Studios theme park.
Here are restaurant options from Islands of Adventure.
Fantastic 4 Cafe
Circus McGurkus Cafe
We couldn’t leave out City Walk, it offers quite an array of dining options.
Universal Studios Resort offers a variety of dining options which is one of the reasons we enjoy the entire resort. It takes any stress that comes with being a picky eater away and really allows us to enjoy our vacation. We can’t wait to see all the new additions to what was a vast array of options.
Feel free to leave a comment about your dining experiences at Universal Studios Resort or any of your restaurant recommendations.
Everytime we talk to people about our love for all things Universal Studios Orlando, they always seem to ask us which park is better, Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure? For us, there is no real definite winner. We love both parks so very much that we couldn’t possibly choose between the two! Although if we were asked Disney or Universal we would quickly answer with Universal being the top winner. Although that is in no way a stab at Disney, it’s just that well, they tend to cater more towards families with children and as some of you may know, we have no children. But off the topic of Disney (that’s a completely different post) and back to the two Universal Orlando theme parks.
Both Universal parks are great because they both incorporate movies and themes of things that we have really come to love and not just when we were children. A lot of the themeing and rides are all mostly still quite current and Universal has done a lot of work improving their parks and resort over the last few years.
For a little bit of time, it seemed as if a lot of the Universal Studios theme park was becoming quite outdated and appeared to us to be in desperate need of some updating. Then we started seeing the construction and addition to Islands of Adventure which eventually opened as the now infamous Hogsmeade. It was glorious and we just didn’t know what to expect in Universal Studios, especially if Universal had spent so much time, money and effort into the building of Hogsmeade. We were pleasantly surprised to see that Despicable Me and The Simpsons were completely new and opened to ride. Universal was also under construction building Transformers. There was lots of blockading up by where the Jaws ride once stood, obstructing the view of more construction, which we now know to be Diagon Alley.
For now, we will continue to think that the parks are equal to each other but maybe our trip this October will finally make us choose a side. Leave us a comment below and tell us which park is your favorite.
