Horror Block- September

Once again we are a little behind. Not too mention that October’s Horror Block will also be late because it arrives at the end of the month while we will be at Universal Studios celebrating Halloween Horror Nights. Here is what was in September’s box!

Content Guide

Rue Morgue Magazine

This magazine is a staple in all Horror Blocks. We’ve come to really enjoy it’s contents. October’s issue is jam packed with horror related news from interviews, previews and reviews.

Night of the Living Dead DVD

Included in this month’s box was this great movie that is said to have started the whole zombie genre. This movie also contains interviews with it’s creators as well as visits to actual locations where the footage was shot. Perfect for Halloween!

Horror Face Coaster Set

Just in case you can’t get enough horror, now you can have it all throughout your house with this set of 8 coasters. Each coaster is double sided giving you 18 gross, creepy and terrifying faces to freak out any guests that may visit.

Night of the Living Dead Magnet Set

If the coasters aren’t enough to keep people from stopping by your house unannounced than we are sure these magents will do the trick. Using many phrases from the movie to decorate your fridge or mix them up and make your own phrases!

Aliens 2 Pack Vinyl Figures

This set is part of the Nostromo Collection. There are 3 figures that can be collected including Big Chap, Ripley and Parker. Our set included Big Chap and Parker. Dave is loving these vinyls especially because he is a fan of the Aliens saga!

Death’s Head Moth T-Shirt

Created by ShirtPunch this creepy shirt pays homage to Silence of the Lambs. Remember put the t-shirt on it’s body or else it gets the hose again!

Overall, this month’s Horror Block hit it out the park. All the items we found enjoyable and Dave will really enjoy using all the creepy stuff throughout our new house. Laura has explained to him that he is only allowed to creepify the basement. We’ll see how that goes!

Birch Box- October

Finally, we are catching up with all our stuff. I just got my October Birch Box and will share it today. I am really loving all the stuff in it and feel like Birch Box did a great job this month. This is probably the first month where I felt like the box was really worth it.

This month’s theme is Positive Force. Since October is breast cancer awareness month Birch Box adopted the theme with their items included in the box. They have also partnered with Estee Lauder and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to sponser a years worth of research. Breast cancer is something that affects so many people from patients to their families. By sponsering breast cancer research Birch Box is contributing very positively to help find a cure. Hats off to you Birch Box!

12 Benefits- Instant Healthy Hair Treatment

This is a spray on, leave in hair treatment that is used to protect and heal your hair. It is great to protect against mother nature’s wicked ways and helps to restore your hair. The scent is so lovely and mild. A full size retails for $21.00.

Davines- Love Smoothing Shampoo

This shampoo is used to smooth out frizzy and coarse hair. It’s packed with rice protein and olive oil to help reduce tangled hair. It has a very mild scent. While the scent is mild, it really could use some work. It doesn’t have any sort of fruity or flowery smell, just sort of smells like product, for lack of a better way to describe it. A full size bottle retails for $25.00.

Davines- Love Smoothing Conditioner

As a bonus, Birch Box included a small packet of the Love Smoothing Conditioner to be used along side of the shampoo shown above. This is also made with rice protein and olive oil to help smooth and maintain frizzy and coarse hair. A full size bottle retails for $29.00.

Embryolisse- Lait-Creme Concentre

This is a face moisturizer made in Paris. It is said to be a favorite of makeup artists. It is used to heal dry skin. It is also used in preparation before applying foundation. A full size retails for $16.00-$28.00.

Harvey Prince- Ageless

I am quite pleased with this perfume. Shocking! Typically I can not wear perfume as it will give me a headache. Ageless is completely different for me. It is made of a mixture of grapefruit, pomegranate, jasmine and sandalwood. I love this scent and I even love the placard it came in. The design is really cute. A full size retails for $26.00-$55.00.

Stila- Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

A girl always has more room for mascara right? This mascara is in jet black. Using this will give your eyelashes more curl, greater length and boosts volume. It retails for $23.00.

Overall I am thrilled with all the products included in this month’s box. The Harvey Prince perfume is lovely and I can’t wait to use all the hair products. I typically prefer to have my boxes include more hair products so this box hit it out of the park for me. I also really like how Birch Box has involving themselves into breast cancer research.

Horror Block- August

Like usual we are late with this Horror Block. This was sent to us back in August and we are just beginning to catch up. Things have been so busy for us so we really fell far behind with our blog. We are also getting ready for our Halloween Horror Nights vacation at Universal Orlando. Only 15 days till we arrive for all the haunted happenings! We just can’t wait. Then a week after we get back we close on our house! See what we mean about being really busy? Anywho here is what was included in August’s Horror Block.

Content Guide

Friday the 13th Jason Voorhees Plush

This is an exclusive Jason Voorhees plush doll made by Bleachers Creatures. Normally we wouldn’t have any interest in plushies but considering this is Jason, we’ll make an exception!

Rise of the Zombies Blu-Ray/DVD

If you love zombies and horror movies than look  no further. This movie stars Danny Trejo and takes place on Alcatraz after San Fransisco becomes overrun with zombies. Will they survive? Considering “you can’t kill what isn’t alive” who knows what will happen.

Rue Morgue- September Edition

Horror Block has continued on including Rue Morgue, the everything horror related magazine. We enjoy reading this magazine as it’s our way of keeping up with all things horror.

Say My Name T-Shirt

Made by ShirtPunch this t-shirt is Horror Block’s way of celebrating Beetlejuice, the ghost with the most. Who doesn’t love Beetlejuice? Dave will more than likely be sporting this during our adventures in Universal Orlando later this month.

Grady Twins Autographed Print

Love creepy kids that want to play? Then look no further than the Grady Twins from the Shining. This print was signed by the actresses from the movie: Lisa and Louis Burns.

Necronomicon Notebook

Looking for a way to start an undead survival kit? This necronomicon notebook is the perfect place to jot down notes, especially if you need to remember very important information like exits, safe houses and locations of weapons. When the zombie apocolypse hits surely we’ll be ready!

Well that wraps up August’s Horror Block. It was filled with lots of great items and we are enjoying everything from this month’s box. Horror Block is back on track and we can’t wait to share with you September’s box!

Birch Box- September

Lately it feels like I am always a day late and a dollar short! I’ve been so caught up in packing, switching jobs and well sleeping because it seems like that’s all I want to do! Damn seasons changing! But anywho here is my September Birch Box!

Description Card

Rusk- Elixir Mist

This is a shine enhancing spray that provides color, thermal and UV protection. It smells like coconuts. This spray retails at $16.00 for a full sized product.

Whish- Shave Cream

This lovely shaving cream is scented in blueberries and smells so good. If I didn’t know it was shaving cream I would want to eat it. It smells that good! A full size retails at $18.00

Wilma Schumann Skin Care- Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads

These eye pads are packed with collagen. The collagen is used to hydrate the skin leaving the skin surrounding your eyes looking bright. I can always use a good eye hydrater. A set of 5 retails for $33.00

Dr. Brandt- Pores No More Cleanser

This facial cleanser helps to minimize pores from looking large. I have a serious problem with large pores so this is perfect. I don’t particularly enjoy the scent which is hard to describe but if it reduces the size of my huge poors, I’m game. A full size retails for $15.00.

Model Co- Ultra Long Lasting Lipstick in Stiletto

This is a long lasting lipstick that doesn’t require touchups. I dislike the deep berry color and won’t be using it for 2 reasons. Firstly, I could never get away with wearing that color, unless I wanted to look like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. Second, it was shipped to me broken! It’s hard to see in the picture but if I raise the lipstick all the way up it is broken right where the lipstick sits on the container. This is sold in a trio and retails for $24.00

Overall I am happy with the products I received with the exception being the lipstick. Even though I would not be able to wear that particular color I find it disappointing that it is broken. Now I have to toss it,  if it wasn’t broken I could have given it away. All the other products I am excited to try out, especially the pore minimizer and eye pads.

Ipsy Bag- September

So now it’s time to share the contents of September’s Ipsy Bag!

This month’s theme is Face Fashion which is essentially Ipsy’s way of transitioning fellow beauty lovers into Fall.

DSC06343 (2)

This month’s bag I’ve been going back and forth with. I think that I love it and hate it all wrapped up into one weird feeling! I like the gold color for Fall but I would have preferred for the zipper to be on the very top of the bag. It’s cute but not something I would generally use. Who knows though? Maybe I’ll get into the Fall season and start using it.

Octavio Argan Oil

This is an argan oil to be used on your hair. It helps keep your hair to be silky smooth. A very small amount should be placed on your hand and worked into your hair.

Glam Glow Flashmud Brightening Treatment

This is a delicously smelling facial wash. It is to be applied to your face while your skin is dry. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Once time is up rinse with water. I’m excited to try this because I am always on the lookout for great face products.

Pixi By Petra

This is a mini brow trio in Shades of Brow. I’m not sure how interested in this I really am. I typically don’t need to use anything on my eye brows because they are ridiculously long and full already.

Trestique in Nantucket Nude

This is a mini matte lip crayon. I really like the nude color but I don’t think I will be able to wear it. I think it would look funny on me especially with my skin tone and hair color. I’ll end up giving it a try anyways because I’ll try just about anything once.

Evelyn Ona Cream Blush In Ash

I have no idea if that is even the correct name or not. I tried to look it up online but didn’t have any success. The actual color is much lighter and more of a neutral color but the picture makes it seem like a deep pink. It actually is a cream and reminds me of a lipgloss.

Well that wraps up another Ipsy Bag. Overall I’d say I could go either way on this one. I wasn’t overly thrilled with any of the products but I wasn’t disappointed either. What was in your Ipsy Bag this month? Let me know in the comments!
