Raptor Experience

On one of our last trips to Universal Orlando, we were lucky enough to be able to have our own experience with a Raptor. It was a lot of fun and the way everything was set up was interesting. This was a little while ago so I’m sure they have worked out a better way to have this experience.

Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure is one theme park we will never become tired of.  There are so many things that we enjoy doing. Between the rides, the food and the picture spots, it will forever be one of our favorite places to visit on vacation.

We love being able to get on the Hulk Rollercoaster. We must mention that this rollercoaster is extremely intense. It’s so intense that the first time Laura went on it she was sure she had lost at least 3 years of her life! If you are adventurous we recommend you get on this ride when you visit the park. For those that prefer less intense rides, skip this one!

We also really enjoy the Jurassic Park area. Sadly the Jurassic Park sign has been moved to a new location. We believe this was done to accommodate the highly anticipated new King Kong ride. It’s been rumored that Universal is adding a King Kong themed ride (a new ride is definitely going into this area it just hasn’t been officially announced that it will be King Kong.) We feel as though this will work well into the dinosaur themed area. Once it is fully completed it will be visible from The Cabana Bay Beach Resort. When we stayed there we could see not only the Jurassic Park ride but also the construction for the new ride, right from the hotel’s parking lot. Hopefully it will be completed quickly and the construction updates we’ve seen from Youtube appear as if it is moving along quickly.

Another favorite of ours is Seuss’ Landing. This is one of the first themed areas within the park. All of the themeing makes you feel as if you had walked right into a Dr. Seuss book. The detailing is great and the area is extremely kid friendly. We always make sure to take lots of pictures because they always turn out great!

We also really loved Marvel Island (this also includes the Hulk Rollercoaster.) Dave is a huge comic book fan so this is also a must see for us. If you are visiting the park with a fan this will be a place they will love to see. It is also home to the Spiderman ride which is quite enjoyable. Smaller children may be frightened by the ride but in our opinion after going on it they will change their minds.

Islands of Adventure has a lot to offer. If you are planning on visiting Universal Studios we would recommend getting a park hopper pass. This is necessary to ride the Hogwart’s Express which can take you back and forth to each park. We personally prefer to have multi day park tickets so we can take our time and really see everything. If you can not afford the extra expense we would recommend at least a park hopper because each park has so much to offer.

Vacation Countdown~ 82 days left!!

Today’s post is all about rumors and who doesn’t enjoy a good rumor! Throughout the past few months we’ve tried to stay as up to date with Universal Studios Orlando Resort’s changes as much as possible. We are really working hard to ensure that we know as much as possible, get to see everything that we really want to see and make this our most enjoyable vacation to date. We figure, do the work now so we won’t have to when we are there.

Universal recently announced that with the release of the newest installment of the Purge movie they will in fact be putting on a scarezone themed around The Purge in this year’s Halloween Horror Nights celebrations. It is rumored that scarezone actors will be wielding chainsaws and the memorable masks from the movies. Think you could handle that?

More rumors flying around the mill are that Universal will be making some more changes to City Walk. It is already known that Margaritaville’s refurbishment has been completed. They expanded their outdoor seating and provided heaters in the event the weather turns cooler. This is leading people to believe that some of the other restaurants that were unaffected by all the newest restaurant additions will also be refurbished. Following in the footsteps of the changes to City Walk are also rumors that NBA City and the Nascar Cafe will be changed to new restaurants. At this point in time, it is believed that the restaurants will not be torn down and rebuilt but fully remodeled into completely new restaurants.

These are some of the latest rumors we’ve heard may possibly be coming to Universal Studios Orlando. Let us know what you think about the rumors!

Vacation Countdown~ 90 days left!!

With 90 days left we thought we would use today’s post to share all the things we like and dislike about Poseidon’s Fury. It is located in the Islands of Adventure theme park and is somewhat tucked away into the back of the park, right before the entryway to Hogsmeade and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Universal describes it as a show, although we think it’s not what one would typically think of when they hear the word show. This brings us to our first dislike. It isn’t a sit down show and would be considered standing room only. Live actors engage the crowd, telling the story of archeologists finding and locating the ancient Temple of Poseidon and awakening the dark within. The show uses a combination of water, fire and lasers to detail the legends of Poseidon and his nemesis Lord Darkenon. The show ends with a final battle between the two and this battle is definitely epic, one thing we really like about Poseidon’s Fury.

Here is a list of our dislikes:
Standing Room Only
It doesn’t offer any seating and guests are moved to different rooms as the show moves along.
Somewhat Chaotic
We find this show a bit chaotic as it starts with guests queueing in line. They are then funneled into a large room and all guests are squished in. If we traveled with children we could see how it’s hard to navigate through each room. They are not well lit because of the scenes of each room and guests just push and shove their way through. This can’t be enjoyable for people with smaller children.
Temerature
Some of the rooms that we were moved into as the show continued were not very cool. Normally we would be ok with this but during this show your smooshed shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Trust us, the air conditioning needed to be turned up!

And here is our list of likes:
Special Effects
The effects in this show are a lot of fun. It uses a lot of fire, water and laser effects making the show very enjoyable.
Actors/Actresses
The live actors/actresses really make the show a lot of fun. They really interact with the show and crowd and have made the show memorable for us through the years.
Unknown
We feel like a lot of people either don’t know about the show or really aren’t very interested in it. This makes the queue line move right along. We’ve never really encountered a long wait. Universal lists show times but we’ve never had to go by it. In the past we’ve always been able to get right in.

Let us know what you like and dislike about Poseidon’s Fury.
