Ipsy Bag- July

Well it’s time for another Ipsy Bag! I usually prefer Ipsy to most other monthly beauty subscriptions but this month’s contents were a little less than expected. Here is what I received this month.

This month’s makeup bag I really like. It’s got a lot of great colors which is great for the summer. I am even enjoying the design. The one thing that I would have preferred would have been to have the zipper on the top edge of the bag to prevent anything from spilling out but it will have to work.

bellápierre lipstick in P.I.N.K

So I think that this is in P.I.N.K. That’s at least what the bottom of the tube says. I must admit though that the lipstick itself is much darker but does go on in a much lighter pink color. Just from looking at the lipstick I would have thought it would have been a much deeper cranberry like color. You know what they say about looks though- deceiving!

Cool Way Beachy Salt Spray

This salt spray is to be used on dry or damp hair. It should be sprayed on and then styled using your hands or a blow dryer with diffuser to give the hair a textured look. I am unsure if I will actually use this because my hair tends to frizz without being glued down. I have in the past used a salt spray when I wear my hair curly so it could end up working.

tarte- Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer

in Park Ave Princess

This color seems to be a little dark for me so it might not end up getting used. I must admit that I do like the leather like textured look on the outside of the compact but it loses points in my book because there is no mirror on the inside.

Mongongo Nutrient Dense Anti Aging Lip Conditioner

in Vanilla Coconut Cream

I am always on the lookout for a good lip aid and this one could go either way for me. It is made by Jersey Shore Sun and is organic. I like it’s texture because it goes on thick enough to last and not disappear within minutes of applying it. The thing I am unsure of is the flavor/scent. Vanilla and coconut are not really high on my favorites list. It sort of reminds me of a piña colada which I just find gross. It actually tastes like coconut which means I more than likely won’t be using this often. It will probably be more of a bring along beach item rather than being used daily.

OFRA Eyeshadow and Highlighter in Bliss

I like the color of this eyeshadow. It’s much closer to a color I would normally wear. I tend to stick with more  neutral colors. I had never heard of this brand before so I decided to check out their website at ofracosmetics.com. The cosmetics that they offer look nice so I might at some point try them out.

Overall this month’s Ipsy Bag was a miss for me which is a little unusual because I find that typically I enjoy their bag’s contents. Either way though I am going to try out all the items since I have yet to try all of them.

Did you purchase this month’s Ipsy? If so what did you think of the contents? Let me know in the comments.

Beauty Box 5

I recently purchased the Beauty Box 5- $5 Frenzy Box. I had not ordered through them before so this was my first ever Beauty Box 5. When I purchased it a few weeks back  I decided what the heck could I lose for $5.00? Here is what was included in the box.

Chapstick Hydration Lock

This particular Chapstick is really cool. It can be used 24 hours a day. It has 2 sides, one for day and one for night. The day side has a SPF 12 for skin protectant which is great for these summer months. The other side is to be used at night to add oils and antioxidants during the overnight hours.

Dentek On the Go Floss Picks with case

The box comes in various colored cases but I received 2 in purple. These are used in the place of dental floss. I love that I can throw them in my purse or makeup bag and take them on the go with me. No more excuses about flossing for me!

Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash

This is a 1.8 fl. oz. sample size. I had actually received this once before in a previous Wal-Mart Beauty Box. It’s not my favorite body wash because I do not really like how it lathers up. I actually feel as if it doesn’t lather up very well at all but I’m sure I’ll still end up using it. I just probably won’t be buying a full bottle.

Elite Therapeutics Rosemary Eucalyptus Body Creme

This one I am completely unsure of. There are 2 things that I am on the fence about. The first thing is the thickness of the cream, or lack of thickness. The 2nd is the scent. I normally don’t mind Eucalyptus but this just smells like bug spray to me. It’s not really something I would want to use as a body cream.

Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow in Vanilla Frosting

I have yet to use this eye shadow but I think that I will like it. It might be too white for me to wear but I think with some blending I could get away with it.

Hask Macadamia Moisturizing Hair Oil

I have in the past used Hask products and really have liked them. They are inexpensive and work well with my dry brittle hair. I currently have a moroccan oil made by Hask so this one will have to wait until I finish up the other one.

Eslor Introductory Collection

This collection is a sample set. It includes 4 packets.

Botanical Peeling Gel: Used on dry areas of the skin. Leave on 5-10 minutes. Gel will melt onto skin. Rinse off.

Chlorophyll Lifting Mask: Used for glowing skin. Apply thin layer over face. Let sit until dry then rinse off.

Soothing Refiner & Cleanser: Used to restore balance to skin. Moisten hands and apply to face. Lather and then rinse off.

Firming Collagen Day Cream: Used to give skin a radiant complexion. Clean face normally. Apply to whole face. Leave on.

I am really excited to start using this set. I am currently using a different skin set at the moment so I will need to finish that up before I begin using this set. The Eslor set was intended to hydrate, protect and treat one’s face known as the HPT System. To hydrate it uses a high content of Aloe Vera. To protect it uses Safflower Oil which works as a barrier to retain the Aloe Vera in one’s skin. To treat it uses natural ingredients to improve and retain the skin. I am hoping that this system will really work on my face so I am excited to start using it.

Have you used any of these products or purchased a Beauty Box 5? Let me know in the comments.

Horror Block- June

So for some reason we have been really behind with posting our monthly Horror Block subscription. We are finally getting around to posting June’s box, although in our own defense it doesn’t come in until the end of the month. Here is what was included in June’s box.

Content Guide

Aliens Ice Cube Tray

In this month’s box there was 2 different Alien ice cube trays that you could get. The first is a tray that is a mold of an Alien head the 2nd is an Alien egg mold. We received the Alien egg mold. It has a mold for one large egg and 4 smaller sized eggs. We have yet to use it but we thought it was cool, especially since Dave is a big Aliens fan.

Cthulhu Plush

Doesn’t this little guy look so cute? Not so fast! The Cthulhu is a deity that was originally created by H.P. Lovecraft and was first introduced in a short story he wrote called The Call of Cthulhu. It is described as part octopus, part man and part dragon. Still think this little guy is so cuddly and cute?

Rue Morgue Magazine

The July edition of the magazine features the 15th year anniversary of American Psycho on the cover. This magazine is great for celebrating horror in movies, television, music, literature and even video games. It also includes previews of all upcoming things horror and interviews with writers and actors. This is a must have for all horror fans.

Reaction Ghost Face

Some of you might remember Ghost Face from the Scream movies and now the newly made television show. Reaction Figures has made a Horror Series that includes not only Ghost Face but also Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Eric Draven, Pinhead and Sam. Ghost Face is fully posable and even includes his handy knife.

Survive the Night T-shirt

This shirt was made available by Shirt Punch. If you are a Purge fan than you surely will enjoy this shirt. Hey at least if you have to survive the Purge you can do it in style with this t-shirt. Dave is a big fan of the Purge so he is loving this shirt.

Overall we were quite happy with this month’s box contents. Dave really likes the t-shirt and Ghost Face action figure. We didn’t realize that there were even out there for retail. Now that we know that we are going to have to look into getting Sam, the crazy little murderer from Trick R Treat. We really enjoyed that movie and will probably have to pull it out and watch again as we lead up to Halloween and Halloween Horror Nights.

Did you like this month’s box contents or do you enjoy any of the themed items original movies? Let us know in the comments!

Review- Carapex Moisturizing Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner

I was sent by Carapex, a shampoo and conditioner to review. I was really excited to try out the Moisturizing Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner set because I have dry, brittle hair. I typically over wash, over style and add way too much product than any person should. This results in the dry, brittle hair that I mentioned above. As a result I am always on the hunt for a miracle in a bottle. If you, like myself, find yourself looking for that perfect product that will help add moisture to your hair then you will want to continue reading this review.

Easy to use

Filled with vitamins and nutrients

Leaves hair feeling soft and shiny

Adds moisture to dry hair

Protects hair from root to tip

  • Wet hair
  • Massage into hair and scalp
  • Rinse

  • After shampooing while hair is damp, massage into hair
  • Using fingers comb through the full length of hair
  • Rinse

Overall Thoughts-

I have really been enjoying using the Carapex Moisturizing Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner. It has worked really well with my dry, brittle hair. It has added much needed moisture to my hair. One thing that I have found that I love about this shampoo and conditioner is that my hair is much softer and shinier than it normally is. Typically, when I get out of the shower and towel dry my hair it is all knotted and takes some time to get a brush through it. Not anymore thanks to this shampoo and conditioner. Now, after towel drying, my hair is already soft and not knotted and tangled. I’ve also found that after styling my hair it remains soft and doesn’t tangle as much as it used to.

Another thing that I have to mention is that these products are odorless. For me, this is ideal. I am extremely sensitive to scents and overly powerful smells will instantly give me a major headache. I love that I can use both the shampoo and conditioner and not have to worry about getting a debilitating headache. It really is something that I find personally wonderful about these products.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ (5/5)

The Carapex Moisturizing Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner can be purchased through their website- Carapex.com along with their other fabulous items that include body, skin, hand and foot products.

This product was provided to me for an honest review. The thoughts I expressed were from my own personal viewpoint and experience with the product. My reviews are always 100% honest regardless of how the item was received.
