Nail Art # 35-Polka Dotted Rainbow

This nail art look was my attempt at creating a gradient rainbow using a dotting tool. This was my first attempt at this look and I am quite happy with how it turned out. Here’s how I completed this look.

1.) I began by applying 2 coats of Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails in Hard to Get.

2.) The next step was to apply a red dot on the nail to begin the rainbow. I used Pure Ice in Wear Red.

3.) I began to move outward with my next dots by using Like Clockwork by Funky Fingers.

4.) I continued to move outward with Pure Ice in Show Stopper.

5.) I next used Wet N’ Wild by Fergie in Glowstick to continue on with the rainbow dots.

6.) Lastly I applied L.A. Colors in Navy to finish off the rainbow gradient.

Here is the finished look-

I loved doing this look! It was a lot of fun and much easier than I thought it would be. I found the most important part was to clean the dotting tool between each color well. Once I got the hang of it, it went really smoothly and quickly.

Do you like this look? Have you done something similar? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. oooh! I like how they turned out! I want to do some sort of nail art soon. possibly dots or swirls not sure. I did get some sort of tool to help (it was on sale, lol) but yeah duh I could just use toothpicks as well I guess. but probably the tool will be easier to use. also, I don’t have any toothpicks.

      1. great! I prob paid slightly more but its ok. Sephora had one online (2 tools, one is a skinny paintbrush, other is a two ended dotter thing) for $5. I get free shipping for all there due to buying so much stuff!

    1. Thank you! I have been wanting to do that but I haven’t figured out how to yet! lol The program I have been using as of right now won’t allow me to so this is the best I have. I do all my posts from the computer so I can’t use the phone app to do it. I have to figure it out….. somehow! lol
