With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I figured I’d start celebrating with a little nail art! I’ve tried the Velvet Provocateur by Pretty Woman before and it worked out well. The original one I tried was in pink and can be found here. This set is the same with the color being the only exception.
The set includes a green nail polish, a tube of the velvet effect and a small black brush used for applying the velvet.
I started by applying a base coat. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails. Once that was dry I applied one coat of the green polish included in the set and then allowed the first coat to dry.
Once it was all dry I then began doing each nail individually. I would paint a 2nd coat on the nail and then immediately dropped a small amount of the velvet on the base of my nail. I then proceeded to brush the velvet towards the tip of my nail. This part can be a little tricky because you need to make sure you have enough velvet on the base of the nail. Once all of my nails were finished I gave it some time to completely dry.
To complete the look I then used a nail file on the tips of my nails to get any extra velvet that seemed to bunch up under the tips of my nails. My look was then complete. I did not apply a topcoat because that would ruin the effect of the velvet.
